Arapahoe County Court: What to Expect

Where are the Arapahoe courthouses located?
There are two court locations in Arapahoe County. Both locations are open Monday through Friday from 7:30am – 4:30pm.
Arapahoe County Justice Center
7325 S. Potomac St., Centennial, CO 80112
The Arapahoe County Justice Center is the primary location that we frequent, as it deals with all criminal cases and traffic matters. The courthouse on Potomac also handles restraining orders, juvenile court, domestic matters (divorce, custody, etc.), and the sealing of both criminal and civil cases.
Arapahoe County Courthouse
1790 W. Littleton Blvd., Littleton, CO 80120
Because the location on Littleton Boulevard is mainly for small claims court and small civil actions, the MBS attorneys no longer visit this courthouse. All criminal matters are heard at the Potomac courthouse (Arapahoe County Justice Center).

What should I wear to court?
When attending your court case, it is crucial to dress in a manner that demonstrates respect for the court and presents a professional image. Opt for formal or business attire, such as a suit, dress pants or skirt with a blouse or collared shirt, and closed-toe shoes. Avoid wearing casual or revealing clothing, as it may be seen as disrespectful or inappropriate. Your appearance in court can make a lasting impression, so choosing attire that is neat and clean demonstrates your seriousness for the proceedings.
What should I bring with me to court?
DO bring a form of identification and any paperwork related to your case. This includes the court notice telling you when to arrive and what courtroom your case will be in.
DON’T bring weapons or drugs of any kind. Please note that cigarette lighters may be taken by security and food and drink are not permitted within the courtroom.
Lastly, make sure that your cell phone is off or on silent to avoid any distractions in the courtroom.
What happens if I don’t show up to court?
The most common penalty for failing to appear at court in Arapahoe County is a bench warrant. This specific type of warrant is issued by a judge when a defendant fails to show up in court when required or if they violate the rules of the court in some way.
A bench warrant can function as an arrest warrant, and the defendant can be seized and brought back to court. A judge starts the process of a bench warrant, and not a police officer.
